LOS ANGELES — Two independent movie directors have signed on to bring deceased former adult star Linda Lovelace’s real life story to the big screen.

According to Variety Magazine, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman are on board to direct the indie biopic “Lovelace.”

The story follows the life of porn actress Linda Lovelace, her rise to fame in the 1972 classic “Deep Throat” and how she eventually became anti-porn activist, Linda Marchiano. “Lovelace” also draws from the biography, “The Complete Linda Lovelace.”

“The movie ‘Deep Throat’ will still be in the top 20 of all porno movies. It’s a staple. There’s a spot for ‘Deep Throat’ and it has a prominent location in the history of porn, her movies can be found here : Porn Star Classics.com

The indie biopic will be told from the perspective of three interviewers at various stages throughout her life.

“Linda is this fascinating character who continually reinvented herself and her story based on changing circumstances,” Epstein said. “It’s a story with great dramatic and psychological dimensions.”

Production is set to begin later this year.

After leaving the adult industry, Lovelace became a vocal critic of it, authoring two books, “Ordeal” and “Out of Bondage,” claiming she was forced to perform in adult movies. She died in 2002 from injuries sustained in a car crash.

LINDA LOVELACE

Porn Star Linda Lovelace is one of the best-known names in porn history, despite appearing in only a handful of films in the early 1970’s. She’s a well-endowed brunette with a typically 70’s body—slightly rounded in all the right places. Linda Lovelace was thrust into the national spotlight in 1972 with her starring role in ‘Deep Throat,’ one of the all-time classics of erotic entertainment. It was a groundbreaking sex film that starred Linda Lovelace as a woman who can’t have an orgasm until she realizes that her clit is in her throat. What follows has made Linda Lovelace’s name synonymous with oral sex for over 25 years.

‘Deep Throat,’ was virtually Linda Lovelace’s only completed film. Linda Lovelace appeared in a few late 60’s and early 70’s loops before she was catapulted to sexual superstardom. Her post-’Throat’ work reached a high point with her lusty oral romp with John C. Holmes in ‘Exotic French Fantasies.’ Linda Lovelace’s name on a marquee was a 70’s guarantee of success, so she popped up in numerous quickie compilations, but never again filmed a full-fledged sex film.

Linda Lovelace disappeared into a haze of drug use and sexual excess, re-emerging in the mid-1980’s as an outspoken opponent of the porn industry.

Linda Lovelace died on April 22, 2002 from internal injuries she suffered in a car crash. She was 53.

HARRY REEMS

Harry Reems was one of the very first porn stars, a mustachioed lothario whose romance-tinged trysting got him plenty of work in the 70’s hardcore scene. He’s a well-built stud in the swinging 70’s mold, with one of the hairiest chests seen in porno before or since. But it was his passionate sexual performances that made him a star. Born in 1947 in the Bronx, New York as Herbert Streicher, Harry was struggling to make a name for himself as an actor in the early 70’s when porn started to take off. He eased his way into the fledgling industry along with several other New York actors, including close friend Georgina Spelvin. Harry’s stage background helped him in the 70’s porn era, when story and atmosphere was often as important as pure sexual sizzle. Harry made his hardcore debut in 1972 and immediately became one of the business’ first stars.

Harry choose his roles wisely and exploded on the scene in ‘72, starring in two of the all-time porno classics, ‘Deep Throat’ and ‘The Devil In Miss Jones 1.’ His notoriety followed him through over 100 steamy features between ‘72 and his departure from the scene in 1987. Harry was in top form right up until the end of his career.’ He tried to break into mainstream Hollywood flicks, but met with limited success. Harry dropped completely out of the hardcore scene in 1987, and was last spotted selling real estate out of his Utah office. He’s a charter member of both the AVN and XRCO Performers Halls of Fame.
